The 'Lunch Rides' 2012

1) Of course, the first ride of the year everyone forgot their cameras! We took a short ride over to Winterport and ate at 4 Points BBQ. WOW! Awesome food. We usually have to ride 300+ miles to get 'Q this good! Terry, Laurel, Shawn, Cheryl, Jane and I went.

2) So, for the next lunch ride, we headed back to 4 points again. This time we took the camera! On the way home we detoured to Castine, Blue Hill, and Surrey. 80 degrees in May...good day for a ride and good day for food! Pics Here

3) So, for the first "Official" lunch ride, you know, when we finally head out of state, we rode down to Manchester, NH to KC's Rib Shack. Met Dwight in Bucksport for a coffee (National Donut Day, Shawn was in heaven, we all gave him our free donut!), then down Rt 3 to Augusta, then Rt 202 into NH. We all split the BBQ Feast, served in a coal shovel. Good food and good times! About 538 miles for me.

4) A short ride, at least by our standards. Rode west on Rt 2 thru Bethel, missing the rain the whole morning, up thru Grafton Notch on 26, into NH, and then Rt 16 back into Maine to Rangeley and lunch at 'The Shed'. Both Shawn and I forgot cameras, so not alot of pics. Cool, almost cold start to the day, but it warmed up later, about 400+ miles.

5) A ride to Goody Cole's on a hot July day to meet up with friends from MA and CT. Route 202 down into NH and then Route 125 to Goody's and back, about 480 miles for me. As always, a great day out and som good BBQ!! Nice sunrise from Trenton bridge, and some cool shots of the Penobscot-Narrows bridge in the mist.

6) Route 302 west to Fryeburg, and then Evans Notch thru the pass over to Route 2, and then to Bethel and Smokin' Good. About 415 miles round trip, a foggy/wet start and a wicked hot finish. Pics Here

7) Route 2 west to Bethel into NH, and 16 South to Mount Washington for a run up the rock! Dwight joined Terry and I for a sunny day with incredible views from the summit. 16 into Conway for lunch at Moat Brewery, and Rt 302 home. A rainy wet start but s sunny and warm finish. About 440 miles. Pics here

8) One of my favorite rides in the state.....Rt 3 thru Bucksport into Augusta, and Rt 201 thru Skowhegan all the way north to Jackman, and then a u turn and south on 15 into Greenville, with lunch at Spring Creek BBQ in Monson, and home. 380 or so miles with Terry and Shawn. Pics HERE

9) Why take the easy way when you can take the pretty way? Or the long way? Ok, why not both? Lunch was to be at Beale St BBQ in Bath. So we went north on Rt 1 to Calais first, turned around and came down Rt 9 to Bangor, then 202 into China, and 32 south to Rt 1 just north of Damariscotta into Bath. Route 1 home for a great day out with Terry and Shawn. A cold/wet start, but the sun came out and warmed us up around noon. About 415 miles for me. Pics HERE

10) A ride to Grammy's? Sure! Well, ok, it didn't start out that way....lots of rain in the path of our intended route forced us to go north. A bitter cold start (in the mid 30's!) but sunny. Shawn, Terry, and I met Dwight in Bangor, and then we headed north on Route 2 into Lincoln, then 2A into Linneus for lunch. North to Houlton, then west on Route 1 till we hit Route 6, then south to 2 again, and home. A little rain just as we crossed onto the island, but not a bad day out! Pics HERE

11) Just me this time. A misty/rainy morning delayed my departure and my destination, but the weather turned out nice later on. West on Route 2 to New Sharon, then south on 27 thru Belgrade Lakes, west on 3 to Belfast, then north to Winterport and lunch at 4 Points BBQ. Fall colors are not quite near peak. Pics Here

12) 4 Points again...noticing a trend? We feel kinda guilty only riding a short bit for tremendous BBQ. Shawn, Cheryl, Jane and I met Terry and Laurel in Trenton. We took 180 west out of Ellsworth to Rt9, then to 46, and south into Bucksport. Crossed the bridge and took the back way into Winterport. Nice sunny fall day, good colors, just past peak. A good time with great friends, despite the railway tracks! PICS HERE
