The 'Lunch Rides' 2013

1) A wet and rainy spring has put a very late start on the lunch rides. The first one this year was the Whitehorse Gear open house. Rode out with Terry and Jane. 5am departure, Route 3 west to Augusta, 302 into Conway, and met up with friends for the open house and lunch. 41 degrees out (brr), but the sun came out and it was a great day. 2) Memorial Day Ride! After a week of rain, it was great to get out for a bit. The longer we rode, the more the sun shined! Terry & Laurel swung by, and we picked up Shawn and Cheryl on the way off the island. Route 3 thru Bucksport, across the Narrows Bridge, and then 15 north via the river thru Winterport, and up into Brewer for lunch at Seadog Brewery. Rt 9 north after lunch to 180, and home thur Ellsworth to BH. Pics Here

3) 4 Points BBQ and Blues on a HOT (over 90 degrees!) June day. Jane and I made it out early for a lunch ride out to 4 Points. A great ride, and a great time, especially when the top fell of on the BBQ sauce bottle and 'mopped' my brisket. PICS HERE

4) Spring Creek BBQ via Jackman and Greenville. HOT! We rode 396 miles during the heatwave in early July, over 90 degrees for a week! We rode to Augusta via Rt 3, then Rt 201 up to Jackman where we picked up 15 in Greenville/Mooshead Lake, and then lunch at Springcreek BBQ. They were smoking ribs for a dinner special, but they pulled a rack out just for us....yumm! PICS HERE

5) Another early start on a cool sunny morning, but it was soon to be HOT again. Terry and I went to Rangely Lakes via Route 2 to Farmington, then Rt 4 up the Sandy River and around the lake, Rt 17 down into Mexico/Rumford and west to Bethel and lunch at Smokin' Good. So much food I couldn't finish it all! Rt 2 home, about 410 miles. Pics Here

6) 5am departure for a 400 mile loop north thru Howland, Milo, and Dover-Foxcroft, and then west to guilford and Skowhegan. South via Rt 133 from Farmington to Auburn where we had lunch had Gritty's and Rt 2 home. A perfect day for a great ride for Terry and I. Pics Here

7) Solo this time, which means a later start (read sleep in a bit!). 7am departure for a ride north up Route 1 to Calais, and then back down Route 9 to Brewer/Bangor, on till Winterport for lunch at 4 Points BBQ. A very nice day and about 358 miles. Pics here

8) 6am departure, and we were running late to meet Dwight as sunrise was spectacular and we stopped a few times just to take some pics. Cheryl got to go with us this time, and after meeting Dwight in Bangor, we took Rt to into Bethel, and then Rt 26 toewards Portland. We took a detour from our original route at Gray, and headed north on Rt 202 into Auburn for lunch at Gritty's on the deck. Rt 202 into 3 via Belfast and home. About 385 miles. Pics Here
