The 'Lunch Rides' 2014

1) First ride of the year was a quick jaunt out to 4points BBQ for lunch. Not a long ride, but Jane was able to go. Great spring day! Pics Here

2) A wet and rainy spring has put a very late start to our lunch rides. The second one this year was the annual run to the Whitehorse Gear open house. Rode out with Shawn, Cheryl, and Jane. 6am departure, Route 3 west to Augusta, 302 into Conway. We rode in heavy rain for a few hours, (Bucksport to Fryeburg), but at least it was a warm rain!. Rode the Kancamaugus Highway after the open house, and the rivers and waterfalls were spectacular! Dinner at Horsefeathers, and we stayed overnight at Eastern Slopes. Sunday.
On Sunday, we went to Diana's Baths after riding Hurricane Road, lunch at Moat Mountain Brewery, then north on Rt 16 to Rt 2, then home. Hit a cold, cold rain about Lucerne, last hour was brutal riding.... Saturday's Pics Here and Sunday's Pics Here

3) Terry, Tony, and I met Dwight a a friend from work, Frank, in Bangor for a ride south to eat at Montsweag Roadhouse. First, a stop at Trenton bridge for sunrise at 450am. After we met Dight & Frank, we took Rt 202 south, to Rt 15 to Belfast, then Rt 137 back to 202 thru Augusta, then Rt 27/24 south to Brunswick, 295 to Portland, where we turned north on Rt 1 to Montsweag, just south of Wiscasset. Rt 1 home, 401 miles. PICS HERE

4) Terry, Shawn, and I ride up Mount Washington! Our (almost) annual run up the mountain. Route 2 west into Gorham, NE, down Route 16, up the mountain, into Conway for lunch atDelaney's Hole in the Wall , and home via Route 302. 5am departure, nice sunrise, and home around 800pm, aboud 486 miles. 5) Terry, Shawn, and I got away at the last second to Salvage BBQ in Portland. 630am departure, coffee in Bucksport, Rt 3 to Augusta, then Lewiston-Auburn where we went thru Naplpes, and then into portland. Awesome lunch, even if the joint is a bit Hipster-ish, the BBQ is first class. Route 1 home. Short day, home by 6pm, about 360 miles. PICS HERE

6) Just Shawn and I for this one.....left the island at 6am, Route 2 west to Farmington, then Route 4 up past the Sandy River to Rangeley Lakes, then down 17 into Bethel and Smokin' Good BBQ. We both ordered the Brisket sandwich, thinking we would get a smaller portion, but we were very wrong.....after stuffing our faces, we rode Route 2 east and home, about 422 miles. PICS HERE

7) Terry, Dwight, and I for a ride down to Augusta where we picked up Rt 201 up into Jackman, and then down Rt 15 into Greenville, Mooshead Lake, and into Monson for lunch at Spring Creek BBQ. New digs for the restaurant, and the foos is as good as ever. About 324 miles for the ride. PICS HERE

8) Terry, Shawn, Tony, and I got up for sunrise, and took a long, roundabout way south to Portland for lunch at Salvage BBQ. Rt 1 to Rockport, then 17 west, to 218, then south, and west again to Auburn, then Rt 4 towards Gray, and finally inro Portland. Lunch was fantastic, and Rt 1 home. Chilly when we left (about 50F), but ti warmed up into a perfect fall day. PICS HERE
