Utah 2016

Friday 11-4-16 Arrived the previous morning after an early flight to Las Vegas. We picked up the RV, stopped by Whole Foods to supply it, and off to Snow Canyon State Park near Ivins, UT for a few days. Of course, we neglected to remember the time change that AZ does not recognize which caused a bit of concern as to when we were actually arriving! Arrived in the dark, so our first night setting up in the RV was fun. Spent the day hiking a slot canyon in the park, and climbing down into lava tubes. PICS HERE

Saturday 11-5-16 Leaving Snow Canyon for Pink Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. What a beautiful drive thru Zion to get there, and what a great park. HIked in the sand dunes the next morning. PICS HERE

Sunday 11-6-16 Drive to Zion National Parkfor two nights at Watchman campground. We hiked up to see the Emerald Pools and rode the bus into the park on the Scenic Drive PICS HERE

Monday 11-7-16 More hiking in Zion. Took the buses in to the river to hike the Narrows. Multiple hikes, a few busses, and lots of miles! PICS HERE

Tuesday 11-8-16 Leaving Zion driving to Bryce Canyon thru Red Canyon, and camped in Bryce campground, fell below freezing that night. Some hikes, hard to do at almost 10,000 feet! Talked to a Ranger, said ther is usually a foot of snow on the ground already, great sunny weather. PICS HERE

Wednesday 11-9-16 More hiking in Bryce, Queens Garden, Fairy Kingdom, etc. Drove to Panguitch for the night at an RV Park, laundry, etc. after hiking in Red Canyon. PICS HERE

Thursday 11-10-16 More Red Canyon, visited Kodachrome Basin State Park, and camped in Escalante Wide Hollow State Park, which is a petrified forest. More hiking into the dusk. PICS HERE

Friday 11-11-16 Drove in the Bryce Canyon area to Capitol Reef Park. We did not have enough time in Capitol Reef, but did a few scenic drives and a short hike. Visited Anastazi State Park, and then we drove to Goblin Valley State Park, which is an incredible area. PICS HERE

Saturday 11-12-16 Morning hike in Goblin Valley, and then to Natural Bridges Monument. Natural Bridges was AMAZING! Did a few hikes into the canyon to see all three Natural Bridges and camped in the park for free! PICS HERE

Sunday 11-13-16 Left Natural Bridges National Monument, drove through the Valley of the Gods (drove the Moki Dugway!) and then to Canyonlands National Park (Needles portion). A quick hike in the park and then sunset, and a full moon. PICS HERE

Monday 11-14-16 Drove to various look out points at Canyonlands, and on to Deadhorse Point State Park. Got to see sunset at the point, as well as the White Rim Trail, and camped in the park. No Water in the park! You must bring in all your own. PICS HERE

Tuesday 11-15-16 Deadhorse Point to Canyonlands NP (Islands in the Sky section). After hiking all day, we stayed in Moab at an RV park, some laundry, and hot showers! PICS HERE

Wednesday 11-16-16 Arches National Park. A short drive into the park so we could get an early spot at Devils Backbone campground, which fills up even in mid-November! A full day of hiking in the park for one of the most spectacular sunsets we have ever seen. PICS HERE

Thursday 11-17-16 Snowed and stormed overnight in Arches. Leaving Arches, we drove towards Zion for a cold night at Eagle Lake State Park. Nothing was around, nothing was open, and the RV water froze overnight. It was C.O.L.D.! PICS HERE

Friday 11-18-16 After two weeks in Utah camping, we drove the RV back to Las Vegas, got a cab to the Strip, and gambled at the Hard Rock Cafe all night. What a surrreal end to our vacation! Early am flight out the next day for home.
