The 'Lunch Rides' 2008
We have kept up the tradition we started in 2007, taking a day to ride somewhere in the state, anywhere, for lunch. As always, it's not that simple. Most people think of a ride to lunch as around the corner, well, not us simpletons, no way, that would be too easy.
Our first lunch ride was to Coos Canyon over Memorial Day weekend. It turned into a 'Dinner Ride', and we got home after 10pm. It was also the first ride for Terry and I on our new bikes. pics coming soon
Our second feast was to a BBQ joint in Old Orchard Beach. As mentioned, nothing is simple, first we had to ride to Bethel! And then, we get to OOB, and the place is closed. But, we came prepared, so we scooted up to Freeport and dined at Bucks Naked BBQ. Rob, Terry, Dwight, and Shawn accompanied me. It started out foggy/wet, but turned out to be well over 90 in the afternoon.

Our third ride, with Dwight, Terry, Shawn and I, was back to Grammy's and the home of the world's largest Hamburger....and the worst downpour ever, which made our return very wet.

Good friends, great riding
The Fourth lunch ride, with Terry, Shawn, Rob and I, we were joined by two frineds of Rob's, Shawn and Kim. We headed up to Jackman, then Greenville, and down to Monson for some BBQ at Spring Creek. Short ride, only about 375 miles, but no rain!

Ride #5! Only Terry and I. It was a short notice ride, and no one else could break away, but we headed west to Farmington, southeast to Freeport and north to Damariscotta and GrillZilla!
Yes, more BBQ. Place was just a little roadside 'shack', ok, maybe a truck, but it was damn tasty...

Ride #6! Originally only to be Terry and I, Shawn joined literally at the last second and we delayed our departure so he could go. It was a chilly start and the days were getting short and we chose to visit GrillZilla again. We went towards Skowhegan and thru Belgrade Lakes and the day warmed up enough to take our chaps off for the ride home. Another tasty meal and great ride....
